80th birthday celebration, July 1993 at the Savoy, London. Duration:
n.d.
The video starts off with a mother talking to a child, Jacqui who has just come out of school and they embark on a trip to an M&S store which helps the girl with her school project. A store employee is able to help because she has recently attended some training on childrenswear. Changes in labelling, testing of children's clothing safety standards, and the design to production process are all discussed. The sales assistant then 'freezes' time with her hand held terminal - this enables them to go on a journey to Baker Street to find out more. The child learns more about childrenswear and the responsive nature of the process including test fittings, checking fit for 14,000 children in that year. They also look at design and factory stages, including testing processes and new fabrics, and safety standards in factories. The film ends with the child, Jacqui, showing her teacher the finished project. Marks & Spencer, Thurrock. S.R Gent, Barnsley and Batley and Grangegate Junior School Batley.
